The HP BladeSystem delivers optional Fiber Channel support for SAN implementations and clustering capabilities. Through the implementation of a SAN with the HP BladeSystem, customers can achieve improved data availability, easily scale capacity, and realize management cost savings from consolidating disk resources. Fiber Channel capability is achieved using a QLogic-based Fiber Channel Mezzanine HBA specifically designed for HP p-Class BladeSystem. The HP BladeSystem is optimized for HP StorageWorks and compatible with third party storage vendors.
The QLogic-based Fiber Channel Mezzanine HBA for HP p-class BladeSystem uses the proven QLogic ISP2312 Fiber Channel ASIC. QLogic has successfully packaged a pair of 2Gb Fiber Channel HBAs into a single reliable ASIC including dual RISC processors, dual frame buffers and dual Fiber Channel interfaces with a single PCI interface. Versions of this ASIC are used in Fiber Channel HBAs for HP ProLiant, Integrity and HP9000 servers. Whether customers are using ProLiant, Integrity or HP9000 servers they can standardize on a common ASIC, drivers and utilities from QLogic and HP.
